Secondary Education

    • Gymnasio and Lykeio schools are part of secondary education. Attendance in Gymnasio is compulsory. All European citizens have the right and obligation to educate their children.
    • The school year starts on September 11 and ends in early June before the first day of the Panhellenic exams. Lessons end on 31 May so that students can study for their examinations in early June.
Secondary education – Gymnasio

Enrollment in Gymnasio Schools is automatically performed for children who have completed Primary School.
Required documents:

  • Primary School Graduation Certificate.
  • Proof of residence (for example, an electricity bill or a house contract with your name on it)
  • Photocopy of the student ID card or Municipality Certificate in the Registry of which the student is registered.

Secondary education – Lykio

The Gymnasio School where your child graduated will send his/her Graduation Certificate to the corresponding Lykio School of your area of residence. However, if you wish to select another type of Lykio School other than General High School or you have changed your place of residence, you will need a copy of the Gymnasio School Graduation Certificate.

Required documents:

  • Register application
  • Gymnasio Graduation Certificate
  • Printed Electronic Statement of Preference
  • Photocopy of the student ID card or Municipality Certificate in the Registry of which the student is registered.
